What is fungal nail?
Onychomychosis also known as Tinea Unguium is a fungal infection of the nail plate.
DERMATOPHYTES- What you need to know.
10% of world’s population are affected by DERMATOPHYTES . The most common are Trichophyton Rubrum:
- They grow on the skin, hair and nails and cause most cases of athlete’s foot.
- This can be transmitted into the nails causing fungal nail.
- A fungal nail infection occurs from the overgrowth of fungi in, under or on the nail. Fungi thrive in warm, dark and moist environments and this type of environment can cause them to naturally over populate very quickly.
Fungal Nail Treatment
Fungal nails are notoriously difficult to get rid of but there are also other conditions which may look similar making it very difficult to always accurately diagnose fungal nail.
Treatments are costly and take several weeks or months to eradicate. This new test can help to determine an appropriate method of treatment before you begin!
Fungal Nail- The Test
Health care professionals have relied upon visual examination and/or laboratory diagnostics requiring the use of microscopes and 1-2 weeks to cultivate the fungus. Success ratio is less than 50%.
This new diagnostic kit which can be used in clinics with results seen in 5 minutes with 99% accuracy. This is a significant break through and very welcomed in the field of foot health.
