Home Visit Service
What is a home visit?
A home visit is the same as a our Foot Health Treatment. It includes a full assessment of both feet, obtaining a medical history and a visual clinical examination including vascular and neurological checks for diabetics or those with a vascular history.
We allow 30 minutes for the appointment and depending on the outcome of the assessment, the treatment may or may not include:
- A nail cut and file (and reduction of thickened nails, if necessary).
- Removal of hard skin (corns and callus).
- Treatment for any ingrown nails.
- Treatment for verrucae.
- Reduction of dry skin and cracked heels.
- Rehydration of the foot (moisturise of your feet using a high-quality podiatry cream).
We also discuss foot care, education, and hygiene to see what you can do outside of your appointment to help maintain and improve your feet.
What do I need for a home visit?
Just your feet!
We will bring all the necessary podiatry equipment with us, including a foot tray and foot stool. The foot tray will catch any of the debris and nail cuttings. The foot stool ensures your feet can be placed at a height that does not cause you discomfort or strain on your body. Once we have completed your treatment, we will clean up all debris from the tray and take all used clinical equipment away with us to ensure that your home remains as clean as it was prior to our arrival.
Who are home visits suitable for?
Our home visiting service is only for clients who are house bound and unable to attend our clinics in Portchester or Locks Heath.
If you have diabetes, heart disease or problems with your circulation, do not try to treat corns, callus, cracked heels or ingrown toenails yourself. These conditions can make foot problems more serious.
Most clients require a routine home visit every 6 to 8 weeks. This can be discussed with your Foot Health Practitioner based on your individual needs.
